Abstract

Compact wavelength multiplexers/demultiplexers using photonic wires in add/drop filter and multi-mode interferometer (MMI) configurations were demonstrated on SOI substrate. Device footprint, channel spacing scaling characteristic, crosstalk, operational bandwidth, and manufacturing complexity are compared.
