Abstract

This article offers an introduction to the field of communication sciences and disorders and provides basic information regarding the behavioral profiles of hearing, speech, and language disorders. In addition, the article addresses the etiology and outcomes associated with communication disorders and points to the importance of future work that embraces social approaches to assessment and intervention.
