Abstract

Preliminary lists of scientific and common names for ca 900 North American species of aphanoneuran and clitellate annelids (Oligochaeta, Hirudinea, Branchiobdellida, Acanthobdellida, and Aphanoneura) have been developed. This paper is presented to document our progress and to encourage specialists to provide information on additional distributional records and common names of annelids of the included regions. Guidelines are presented to facilitate the selection of common names.
