Closed-form formulas of fin-line discontinuities at millimeter wave band

Abstract

A set of closed-form formulas for an E-plane strip in a bilateral finline of arbitrary height is given. These formulas are derived by the least-squares curve-fitting method. When f, S, W 30.0 < f < 37.0 (GHz), and 0.5 ≤ S ≤ 2.0(mm), and 0.7 ≤ W ≤ 2.0(mm), the error is less than 5%. The values obtained by the closed-form formulas are compared with data calculated by the transverse resonance method and the variational method.
