Abstract

John R. Edmondson made the combination Oxypolis denticulata (Baldwin) J.R. Edm. based on the assumption that Sium denticulatum Baldwin was synonymous with O. ternata (Nutt.) A. Heller. An in-depth investigation into the taxonomie and nomenclatural history of these species has shown, however, that 5. denticulatum Baldwin and O. ternata (Nutt.) A. Heller are not synonyms. In addition, the name O. denticulata (Baldwin) J.R. Edm. is an isonym of O. denticulata (Baldwin) Raf.
