Abstract

Asymmetrically modified S,O-(alkoxysilacyclobutyl) ketene acetals derived from methanethiol esters reacted with aromatic aldehydes at low temperature to afford, after desilylation, the corresponding β-hydroxythiol ester aldolates in high enantiomeric excess (91–94% ee).
