Until more is known about the pattern of CO₂ exchange with the oceans, other sinks or sources of CO₂, and what the airsheds for the various monitoring stations are, we cannot use atmospheric CO₂ data to determine with certainty whether the biota is a source or sink for CO₂.-from Authors
