Abstract
Focuses on hardwood and coniferous forests that have developed on Spodosols in cool temperate to boreal climates. The objectives of this paper are to: (i) examine the translocation and chemistry of organic C, N, S, and P in forest floor leachates and mineral soil solutions; (ii) discuss the solid and solution chemistry of organic matter found in the forest floor and spodic horizons; (iii) examine the components of the C cycle and (iv) discuss a conceptual biogeochemical model. -Authors
