Abstract
A time-dependent slow-time-scale theory is developed for the analysis of high-power, pulsed gyrotrons driven by external RF sources. Phase-locking of a gyrotron by direct injection of radiation into the cavity and by beam premodulation by means of a bunching cavity is investigated. Calculations are carried out to simulate the operation of a 35-GHz high-voltage gyrotron.
