Abstract

This paper discusses novel materials and routes to the realization of optical fibers exhibiting zero Brillouin scattering. Such Zero Brillouin Activity (ZeBrA) optical fibers would enable the continued performance of fibers to higher optical powers critical for their use in modern communication and defense systems.
