Biological approaches to treatment of aphasia

Abstract

This scenario plays out commonly in hospitals around the world, and clinicians are often faced with the daunting challenge of answering these questions and facilitating the rehabilitation of such patients. This chapter is focused on the last question posed above: Are there pharmacotherapeutic or other biological approaches that can facilitate his recovery from aphasia? Herein, we will summarize the known literature on these topics and offer recommendations for clinicians.
