Abstract

Progress on the development of Yb-free, heavily erbium-doped fibers based on alkaline earth fluoride nanoparticles is presented. These fibers are shown to maintain high efficiency with an increased erbium concentration. Spectroscopy, amplifier performance, including in the L-Band, role of composition and co-dopants, and the suitability of this fiber for high energy applications will be discussed at the workshop. Progress towards a suitable double-clad fiber for the power scaling application will also be presented.
