Automated photonic resonator absorption microscope for point of care biomarker detection

Abstract

We describe an automated biosensing microscope capable of measuring assays performed on photonic crystal (PC) biosensor surfaces using gold nanoparticle tags for detecting nucleic acid and protein biomarkers. The system incorporates a 3-axis computer-controlled motion stage, autofocus, large-area image tiling, and real-time monitoring of dynamic processes.
