Aspiration pneumonia following near-drowning in a mare: A case report

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A 10-year-old Arabian mare was referred after being trapped in a river following a tornado. The results of the clinical examination, hematology, blood gas analysis, and radiography, which confirmed near-drowning, are described. The development of aspiration pneumonia was identified by fever, hyperfibrinogenemia, hematology, positive transtracheal aspiration, and radiography. The therapy of near-drowning and aspiration pneumonia is discussed.
