Abstract

In this study, the accuracy of the acoustic analogy prediction given sources determined by a direct numerical simulation of a Mach 1.92 turbulent jet was examined. The results were compared with the jet noise field computed in that simulation. The simulated jet was shown to have peak noise intensity within a 1-2 dB of jets at comparable Mach numbers. Turbulent stresses and mean flow development were similarly realistic.
