Abstract

An adaptive absorbing boundary condition (ABC) is applied to the finite element solution of three-dimensional scattering problems. Shown by numerical results, the adaptive ABC is more accurate and reliable than traditional ABCs. The advantages and disadvantages of the adaptive ABC are discussed along with some possible improvements.
