Answering the Call for Community: Establishing an Inclusive and Collaborative Peer-Support System for Early-Career Librarians

Research output: Contribution to conferencePosterpeer-review

Abstract

The peer-to-peer model of mentorship ensures the success of tenure-track faculty members by facilitating a network of shared institutional and professional knowledge and experience. Creating a community of practice for untenured faculty members fosters a sense of support and belonging and allows librarians to take an active role in their professional development. This poster illustrates how early-career librarians at a public, four- year institution are evaluating the needs of the untenured faculty in their library, assessing the best approach to addressing these needs, and designing collaborative and cooperative programming in order to establish an inclusive and equitable peer support system.
