We show that the quantum yield in an artificial N-site photosynthetic system can be calculated exactly if e--hole recombination is allowed from the light absorber only. It is then demonstrated that the distribution of hopping rates determined the N dependence of the quantum yield and may give rise to a faster than 1/N decay of the quantum yield.
