Abstract
H2 maintains an important role in bacterial metabolism in anaerobic environments. The ability to measure and analyze H2 concentrations in biological systems is often useful for determining the physiological state of the microbiota. Methods for precisely analyzing H 2 in bacterial cultures and environmental samples are now available. This chapter discusses H2 measurements from both the theoretical and practical methodology perspective of the analysis and the interpretation of data.
