Analysis of Supermode Dynamics of Coherent Dual-Element Photonic Crystal VCSEL Arrays

Abstract

Dynamical properties of coherent dual-element photonic crystal VCSEL arrays are analytically investigated using complex waveguide model and coupled rate equations incorporating time-varying confinement of the supermodes. We find two nearly degenerate supermodes produce a photon-photon resonance which is dependent on the photonic crystal period.
