Abstract

The existance and uniqueness of solutions to a nonlinear systems of partial differential equations arising from the modeling of multi-field interactions of a thermoelastic plate-strip was analyzed. It was proved that the linear part of the equations could be put in the form of an evolution equation. It was also proved that the corresponding linear operator generated a strongly continuous semigroup. The feasibility and design of an active control for both elastic displacements and temperature in a structure was also investigated.
