note = "Funding Information: Dr. Andrzej Bartke is Professor and Director of the Division of Geriatrics Research at Southern Illinois University, School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. Dr. Bartke{\textquoteright}s research interests focus on hormonal and genetic control of aging, particularly on the mechanisms by which the loss of growth hormone extends lifespan in dwarf mice. He has also contributed a large body of work to reproductive biology in the male, discovering a critical role for prolactin in the regulation of steroidogenesis in the testis and that cannabinoids affect spermatogenesis and fertility in males. Dr. Bartke was awarded the Society for Reproduction{\textquoteright}s highest honor, the Carl Hartman award, in 1995 and was also the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Andrology in 1995. Dr. Bartke received the Denham Harman Research Award from the American Aging Association in 2005, the Distinguished Scientist Award from the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine in 2011, and the RW Kleemeier Award from the Gerontological Society of America in 2013. He was awarded the Fred Conrad Koch Lifetime Achievement Award from the Endocrine Society in 2015. Dr. Bartke was President of the American Society of Andrology from 1983 to 1984, President of the Society for the Study of Reproduction from 1985 to 1986, and President of the American Aging Association from 2004 to 2005. He has served on countless federal grant review panels and has also served as Editor-in-Chief of several important journals including the Journal of Andrology, Experimental Biology and Medicine, and Experimental Gerontology. Dr. Bartke has mentored numerous predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees over the course of his career. We asked Dr. Bartke about his outstanding career and the importance of mentoring and contributing to the scientific community.",
