Abstract

The elastic-viscoelastic analogy due to Alfrey (1944, 1948) is extended to incorporate thermal stress problems in nonhomogeneous linear viscoelastic media. It is shown that the thermal stresses in a body possessing temperature-dependent linear viscoelastic properties can be deduced from an equivalent elastic body.
