Abstract
We examined the relative fit of Roe′s (1956), Meir′s (1973), and Knapp and Knapp′s (1974) circular order models; Gati′s (1979) hierarchical model; and Lunneborg and Lunneborg′s (1975) four-factor model to Roe′s eight interest fields. A series of analyses using the randomization test of hypothesized order relations and confirmatory factor analysis were applied to 24 correlation matrices of Roe′s fields. Results showed that Meir′s (1973) circular and Gati′s (1979) hierarchical models were the best representations of Roe′s fields of vocational interests. We discuss criteria to select between Meir′s and Gati′s models.
