Abstract

Simple, low power, fully elastic, low modulus, stretchable thermochromic reflective color displays/indicators that are able to function under large strain deformation, are realized by combining thermochromic elastomers with molded traces of conductive elastomers. Detailed experimental and theoretical studies reveal the key materials, mechanics, thermal and optical properties. The results demonstrate the ability to exploit strain induced changes in resistance of the conductive elastomers in a colorimetric strain sensor.
