Abstract

The Single-Doppler retrieval of Shapiro et al. was applied to a supercell thunderstorm dataset with encouraging results. The use of a moving reference frame was an important modification of the original algorithm. Single-Doppler estimates of the storm propagation speed and the mean wind were used to define two different moving reference frames. The mean wind reference frame outperformed the storm propagation reference frame.
