Abstract

A Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system for full-scale room airflow study was developed to quantitatively measure airflow patterns and air distribution in ventilated airspaces. Effects of jet momentum on room airflow patterns and air velocities in animal occupied zone and human breathing level were quantified using the PIV method under isothermal ventilation conditions. Typical ventilation strategies are then evaluated to optimize ventilation equipment and system design.
