Abstract

Crystallization of 1,2-ethynediylbis(4-benzonitrile) with silver(I) hexafluorophosphate results in hydrolysis of the counterion to the difluorophosphate species. The resulting complex, poly[disilver(I)-bis(μ 3-difluorophosphato-O:O:O′)-μ-[1,2-ethynediylbis(4- benzonitrile)-N:N]], [Ag2(F2O2P)2(C16H8N 2)]∞, consists of infinite chains of ligands coordinated to silver(I) which are linked through counterion O atoms to form undulating sheets.
