Abstract

Traditional post-earthquake safety assessment of damaged buildings is always time-consuming and qualitative. This paper proposes a novel quantitative method for evaluating seismic damaged buildings based on 65 RC buildings from the Wenchuan and Lushan earthquakes. The results show that: the uncertainty of the model regression coefficient leads to obvious variability in damage index of the structure (Dz); the residuals do not show obvious trend with the variables; the Pearson correlation coefficient between the calculated and judgment values of test samples is 0.96. Results indicate that the proposed model is feasible for evaluating the safety of damaged buildings on site.
