A path to (and beyond) tolerance

Abstract

In his final publication, ‘On Religious Diversity and Tolerance’, the late Philip Quinn proposes that religious diversity, which can be the occasion and perhaps even the cause of intolerance, can also help to combat this unfortunate phenomenon. Religious diversity ‘shows some promise of contributing to a remedy for the very malady it has helped to create’. The source of a certain problem can also provide, or at least contribute to, its solution.
