Abstract
A new formula on the scalar wave scattering by a sphere at high frequency is presented. A new Sommerfeld-Watson transformation is used to construct a new residue series. In the derivation, a spherical traveling wave is defined and used to reduce the complexity of the solution. Furthermore, the new solution offers a clearer physical picture.
