N2 - We present a new integral equation based domain decomposition method (IEDDM), in which the original object is decomposed into a set of non-overlapping open-surfaced sub-domains. The required normal continuity of the solution current across the contour between adjacent sub-domains is enforced weakly through the application of the interior penalty (IP) Galerkin formulation. Unlike the previous IEDDM algorithm, the newly proposed IEDDM does away the need for artificial surfaces. As a consequence, the approach proposed herein greatly enhance the flexibility of surface integral equation methods for modeling EM scattering from complex targets with multi-scale features.
