Abstract

The unstable species [(C5H5)Ru(PPh3)21,S-C4H4S)]+ has been observed in solution and shown to convert to [Ru(C5H5)(η5-C4H 4S)]+. An η1,S-thiophene complex has been stabilized in the form [(C5H4CH2C4H 3S)Ru(PPh3)2]X (2). An X-ray structural study of 2 (X = BPh4) confirms the structure and shows that the sulfur is pyramidal. Displacement reactions of 2 have been studied.
