Abstract

We describe recent progress towards a measurement of the beta-asymmetry of the neutron using ultra-cold neutrons. In particular, we present the results of tests of a proto-type UCN source which utilizes the superthermal production process in solid deuterium and an overview of progress we have made towards the development of an experiment in which all critical systematic errors should be dramatically reduced.
