Abstract
The article offers information on the recovery of two unusual fired earthen objects from separate burned rock during excavations at Hickman #1 at the East Fork of the LaMoine River in Hancock County, Illinois in 2016. The artifacts are made from a fine-grained wind-blown sediment, fire-hardened natural loess which is the parent material for most near surface upland soils located in western Illinois.
