A 1D inversion scheme for large-scale, 3D subsurface imaging of real data

Abstract

A simple and efficient method for large scale three-dimensional (3D) subsurface imaging of inhomogeneous background is presented along with an improved background estimation, which is crucial to the reconstruction. One-dimensional (1D) multifrequency distorted Born iterative method (DBIM) is employed in the inversion of real data provided by the U.S. Geological Survey. Calibration and practical problems are also discussed. A new 3D verification of the method is also provided.
