Abstract
The 29th international conference on advanced ceramics and composites organized by the engineering division of The American Ceramic Society is discussed. The theme of the conference is Interdisciplinary Cross-fertilization aimed at addressing current and future, foreseeable problems. Symposia address coatings for structural, environmental, and functional technologies based on electroceramics, and advanced dielectric, piezoelectric and ferroelectric materials. The symposium on advances in ceramic-metal systems is in keeping with roots and relevant to the design and incorporation of ceramic components into operating systems. .
