Dr. Hoopsick is currently the Chair of the Access, Belonging, and Community (ABC) Committee in the Department of Health and Kinesiology and serves as the Co-Chair of the Public Health Research Interest Group (RIG).
She is a member of the American Public Health Association, the College on Problems of Drug Dependence, and the Research Society on Alcohol, and she has served as a study section reviewer for NIH.
Dr. Hoopsick teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Health and Kinesiology, frequently including HK 111 - Introduction to Public Health and HK 517 - Principles of Epidemiology.
Dr. Hoopsick's research has been supported by extramural funding from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), in addition to internal pilot funding from the Center on Health, Aging, and Disabilty (CHAD) of the University of Illinois.
She is currently a PI on the HEALERS Study (Healthcare Environments: A Longitudinal Examination of Resilience and Stress), a 5-year $3M study focused on the substance use, mental health, and suicidality of healthcare workers funded by the National Insitute on Drug Abuse (R01DA059443).
