During her time here, Dr. Pierce taught ESL in the Intensive English Institute, taught pronunciation in the ESL service courses, and coordinated the English Proficiency Interview (EPI). She has taught ESL in a variety of contexts including as a Peace Corps volunteer in Papua New Guinea. She is an avid traveler, has three dogs, and is a certified SCUBA diver.
