Aaron Timperman received his PhD from the University of Illinois in 1995 under the mentorship of Jonathan Sweedler. After his graduate work he studied Chemical Oceanography at the University of South Florida with Paula Coble and Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Washington with Ruedi Aebersold. He began his academic career at the West Virginia University in the Department of Chemistry where he received tenure, before joining the US Army Corps of Engineers at CERL in Champaign. While in Champaign, Aaron was recruited to the University of Notre Dame where he led a research group in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and served as Associate Director of Research for the Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics Initiative. His research interests are focused on molecular and mass transport at the microscale and nanoscale, and the use of these phenomena to study biological systems. His group develops microfluidic and nanofluidic systems for improved proteome analysis and point of care diagnostic devices.
