Center for the Study of Global Gender Equity

Organization profile

Organization profile

The Center for the Study of Global Gender Equity is an interdisciplinary center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The center promotes the study of human development in international settings.  Because such development has gender, cultural, economic, legal, moral, political, social, and technological dimensions, we emphasize scholarly activities that advance our understanding of how resource inequalities and gender equity affect individual and community capabilities. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, we address and critically evaluate human development issues by:

  • Conducting research
  • Hosting academic conferences, speakers, and workshops on this theme
  • Educating future academic and policy leaders through our Gender Relations in International Development (GRID) graduate minor and undergraduate Certificate in Global Health (offered in conjunction with LAS Global Studies)

Fingerprint

The Elsevier Fingerprint Engine mines the text of the experts' scholarly documents – publication abstracts, awards, project summaries, patents, and other sources – to create an index of weighted terms which defines the text, known as a Fingerprint. By aggregating and comparing Fingerprints, the Elsevier Fingerprint Engine enables users to look beyond metadata and expose valuable connections among people, research units, publications, and ideas.
